Everyone living in Mt. Juliet have certainly seen the buzz surrounding The Paddocks of Mt. Juliet and experienced first hand the wonderful new store opening of Lowe’s a couple of months ago. Well, I am happy to report that Wal-Mart has just opened their doors today! This much anticipated store opening will certainly have all the holiday shoppers clinging to their carts for what will no doubt be the highest producing store in the city. I personally am happy to see Wal-Mart’s doors open so that the friendly price competition can begin between Kroger (in our beloved Providence) and WalMart. Not long from now, we’ll also see the doors to the brand new Publix at Providence open as well and it’ll be gloves off!

Some particulars about the Mount Juliet Walmart go as follows:

It’s location is: 300 Pleasant Grove Road, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122
It takes up 176,330 square feet of real estate
It employee’s over 350 people
It’s store manager, Bruce Abbott, started with Walmart in 1989
It will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week
The store phone number is 615-758-1121
There are still (as of today) some full time positions open and you can apply in store or via www.walmart.com

Mt Juliet continues to grow, and as it does, I’ll be bringing the news. Until then, enjoy Walmart!!

The residential portion of Providence is looking to grow to over 3500 homes by adding an additional 400 homes according to a 25 page outline distributed to the Planning Commission last week. The developer, CPS Land is proposing this section to be on the south side of the existing Providence residential development and would come out at Central Pike. It is slated to be called “South Providence”. The two builders involved in the addition include Drees Homes and Beazer Homes and is said to be a mix of single family homes and townhomes amidst additional greenspace that is hoped to be used for concerts, festivals, or maybe a farmers market. According to Frank Horton with CPS Land, the decision to add additional homes to the development is due to the current success with Providence.

Providence Marketplace has been a huge success as well, with the opening of: Target, Best Buy, Kroger, JC Penney, Belk, Books-A-Million, Providence Cinemas, Panera Bread, Logans Roadhouse, Old Navy, PetSmart, Joanne Fabrics, Red Robin, O’Charleys, Dick’s Sproting Goods, and many other stores and eateries with even more coming such as Lifeway Christian Bookstore and Bath & Body Works.

There is also a new shopping center coming with anchor stores like Wal-Mart, Lowes and HHGregg coming to the I-40 and Mt Juliet Rd interchange called The Paddocks of Mount Juliet. It is expected to open sometime in 2008 and will no doubt add to the desireability of the ever growing city of Mount Juliet that sees no end in sight to growth.
